2.Dh5 bij Code Rood

Klimaatverandering en het winnen van fossiele brandstoffen hebben ernstige gevolgen, die ook op veel andere vlakken van invloed zijn: mensenrechten, arbeid, gewapende conflicten, migratie, internationale (economische) verhoudingen, handel, …

Tijdens het Code Rood kamp verzorgt 2.Dh5 drie workshops/debatten. Deze zullen plaatsvinden in het weekend van 25 en 26 augustus. De kamplocatie is in het bevingsgebied in Groningen en zal bekend worden gemaakt op de website van Code Rood.

Who profits? – Climate change, energy security, conflict and migration

Presentation and discussion on the connections between climate change, energy security, (armed) conflict and forced migration. And a look at the way the military and security industry profits from all aspects of this. Panel with representatives from the Transnational Institute (TNI), Stop Wapenhandel, Stop the War on Migrants and the Darfur Union (to be confirmed). This workshop will argue that is critical that peace, environmental, migration and international justice activists join forces to tackle the problems at the crossroads of their work. This session has been organised in cooperation with Transnational Institute (TNI) & Stop Wapenhandel.

Lyda Fernanda Forero (Transnational Institute) is an economist who carries out analysis and campaigning on trade and investment policies, the architecture of impunity created for transnational corporations, and new trends in financialisation and commodification of nature and life.
Mark Akkerman is a researcher at Stop Wapenhandel (Dutch Campaign Against Arms Trade). He has also written and campaigned on the greenwashing of the arms trade and the militarisation of climate change responses.

Nood breekt wet? De theorie achter burgerlijke ongehoorzaamheid

Code Rood roept op tot ‘burgerlijke ongehoorzaamheid.’ Maar wat is dat eigenlijk precies? Het impliceert dat men bewust en openlijk handelt in strijd met de wet. Maar hoe kan dit in een democratische samenleving worden gelegitimeerd? En is iedere vorm van illegale actie daarmee ook geoorloofd? In dit inleidend college maakt men kennis met het filosofische debat over burgerlijke ongehoorzaamheid, en de verbanden en verschillen met andere vormen van politiek activisme. Uiteindelijk wordt gepleit voor een kritische herwaardering van het begrip ‘burgerlijke ongehoorzaamheid’ in de hedendaagse context.

Mathijs van de Sande is politiek filosoof en docent aan de Radboud Universiteit in Nijmegen. Hij is lid van de linkse basisorganisatie Doorbraak.

Learning to fight in a warming world’ with Andreas Malm

The curves are still pointing in the wrong directions: more capital invested in fossil fuels, increasing concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere, escalating climate catastrophes around the world, a surging climate change denialist far right. How do we defuse this pipeline? How do we combat the disaster of late business-as-usual? This talk will discuss various obstacles and potentials for a militant, popular struggle for climate justice in the present conjuncture.

Andreas Malm teaches Human Ecology at Lund University, Sweden. He is the author, with Shora Esmailian, of Iran on the Brink: Rising Workers and Threats of War and of Fossil Capital, which won the Isaac and Tamara Deutscher Memorial Prize, and most recently The Progress of This Storm.

Het jaarlijkse 2.Dh5-festival besteedt aandacht aan allerlei thema’s, de samenhang ertussen en meer. 2.Dh5 is een plek om ideeën uit te wisselen over grassroots campagnes, tactieken en actiemethodes die onze idealen van een vrije en solidaire samenleving dichterbij brengen. Met een programma vol workshops, discussies en praatjes over actiethema’s, strategieën en inhoudelijke verdieping. Altijd gericht op de toekomst en op het zoeken naar oplossingen. 2.Dh5 is de plek om bij te praten met andere wereldversleutelaars en om nieuwe plannen te smeden.
