Weer tienduizenden tegen Bolkestein-richtlijn
Tenminste 40.000 mensen gingen afgelopen dinsdag in Straatsburg de straat op om te demonstreren tegen de Europese dienstenrichtlijn. Aanstaande donderdag stemt het Europees Parlement erover.

Eerder afgelopen weekend demonstreerden in Berlijn al tienduizenden mensen (zie eerder bericht hierover. En hier vind je een (duitstalig) overzichtsartikel van protesten in Europa tegen de Bolkestein-richtlijn.
In heel Frankrijk gingen dinsdag in verschillende demonstraties zo’n 400.000 mensen op de been tegen het uitkleden van de arbeidswetgeving (verslag met foto’s)
Ook in Polen werd gedemonstreerd tegen Bolkestein. Dat is tekenend aangezien de Westeuropese politici de dienstenrichtlijn verdedigen met de argumentatie dat daarmee ook mensen uit nieuwe EU-lidlanden betere kansen zouden krijgen. Hieronder een verklaring van Poolse Anarchisten die dat argument onderuithaalt:
STATEMENT OF THE POLISH ANARCHIST FEDERATION ON THE “BOLKESTEIN DIRECTIVE”
The so-called Bolkestein Directive” is the last of a long series of steps on the way towards the complete deconstruction of the welfare state and the liquidation of the last social privileges in the whole of the European Union. As anarchists, we don’t consider state guarantees as a solution worth fighting for. We are too aware of the fact that any victory in the framework of the current system will be only temporary. We are also aware of the corrupting character of any government and the ineptitude of bureaucrats who supposedly “stand for our rights”. These characteristics of a the state system mean that a “welfare state” is only an illusion meant to cure symptoms, but not the causes and to hide the real interests hidden behind it.
Nonetheless we cannot be silent when the arguments of “greater competitiveness” and “flexible labour market” are used to the detriment of masses of workers. This does not only concern purely social issues but also the reinforcement of the inferior position of millions of people in the face of structures of power. So-called “free market” processes are completely unable to ensure healthy, non-hierarchical norms of social existence, because they reinforce the position of the strong over the weak. On the long term, these processes can only mean the levelling to the bottom of the level of life of workers in all of the EU contries and strengthen the division between the rulers and the ruled.
We don’t have any illusions. We know that a decent social status of workers will not be achieved durably through laws and actions within the legal framework of the capitalist system. Nonetheless we have to express our protest and fight with all available means against the increasing exploitation of workers. Let’s be realists! Let’s demand the impossible! With radical protests we can force the authorities to give us concessions! Let us not be fooled by empty talk about “common interests of employers and employees”. We want only one thing from the government and the capitalists: we want them to disappear off the face of the earth!
